All about Bursary Application Forms

Bursary Application
A bursary application can sometimes be difficult to apply for. Students using bursary application forms in 2011 will in many cases need access to updated financial information, knowledge of their dependent status, academic transcripts, and other specific details needed to consider their eligibility. While Canada and the United Kingdom both offer relatively easy to use bursary forms when applying for aid, the bursary application forms require a good amount of information in order to get students access to all the programs they could potentially fall under. In South Africa, this problem is compounded in that there is no single form for bursary applications and students will be spending much of their time finding the correct forms and filling them out by the appropriate deadlines. It is important to not get overwhelmed during this process. A student properly equipped to handle the need for information should be able to go through 2011 bursary applications with relative ease, so your best bet is to be prepared ahead of time.

Keeping or getting access to the records which compose your life is the best way to prepare for filling out 2011 bursary applications. Regardless of where you are in the world, one of the things almost every student is going to need is proof of residency. While this proof will vary depending on where you live, having picture ID and birth certificates may be necessary in this process. You will likely need to know where you were born and where you reside currently. As many bursaries are available to residents, proof of residency should be the first thing you find.

Another important record to have immediate access to is that of your or your family’s income. This is going to be a very useful thing to know as many nationally offered bursary application forms in 2011 are going to ask you about your financial status, as rewards in these programs are often only given to those with exceptional need. If you are a dependent by your country’s laws, you will also need to know what your family’s income is, the rough size of your family, and how many of your siblings (if you have any) are also dependent on your parents’ income. Once you have your evidence of residency and access to relevant financial information, the first part of many bursary applications is going to be easy to complete.

Not all bursary programs are available only to those in dire financial straits. Other merit-based bursary application forms are going to need in-depth information regarding your career interests, community involvement and, often most important of all, your academic progress over the years. Academic status and progress are pretty common inquiries on bursary application forms, so having access to your current transcripts and academic history is going to be important in getting through this part of the process.

Always be sure to be as honest as possible – many bursary applications require that students upload or mail a copy of their transcripts in with the application, or may independently check on the figures if your application is accepted for an award. Other information such as your community engagement, leadership roles and career interests are going to help set you apart from other applicants during the process, so be sure to sketch out a rough history of these activities before sitting down to complete your 2011 bursary application process. If the bursary application you are filling out has a “personal statement” section, this would be an ideal place to mention these achievements and activities, so be as complete as you can.

Other necessary material in filling out your 2011 applications for bursaries is going to depend on what you are applying for. For instance, applying for the Instrumental and Vocal Tuition Bursary in 2011 is going to not only need much of the above mentioned material but also information on what instruments you play, what areas of music you need assistance in and what sort of individual learning lessons you will need.

When using 2011 bursary application forms, the most important thing any student should know is that knowledge is power. Review all the information you will need to apply to a bursary program and be sure to prepare all of it before hand. If you go in with as much information at your fingertips as possible, you will find that the process is much easier overall.

      1. nolwazi,

you must apply to bursaries to see if you qualify for them. We do not offer direct bursary programs but write about those who do. I recommend that you talk with the FinAids manager at the college you attend to see what specific student aid programs you may be eligible for. Just keep trying and don’t give up. Have you contacted your countries department of education to see what national programs you may apply for?

      1. yolanda,

keep applying and try online colleges too. They tend to be more lenient. Apply into your own government bursary programs which have flexible qualifying criteria.

I don’t know what country your from but you should go to the university financial aids office to discuss options. They will provide guidance for you. You may be eligible for grants or need based programs student bursaries too. What about applying for student loans.

      1. i’m the first year student and i need a bursary sponsor because of some very strong reasons like: i’m coming from rural area (Ingwavuma) and i’m now out of money to buy food stuffs and cosmatics. the NSFAS money is only used to buy in limited stores and limited staff.

        1. Kwanele,

We do not provide bursary sponsorships unfortunately. You must apply to the bursary programs you feel you qualify for. If you don’t apply to a bursary program, you will never find out if you qualify for one. Apply to as many as you can. You must apply to see if you qualify. To apply, you must go directly to the bursary sponsors website. Start with your government bursaries firstly then move on to college and company sponsored programs.

  2. I want to study social work. I also want a bursary. how do i start. do apply at the colege then get accepted and then apply for a busary. the website is making me confuse

    1. Contacting the financial aids office of the college you are interested in attending is always a top first step for they will offer you up to date information on programs new to their college. Make an appointment with a college (FINANCIAL AIDS OFFICE) in your area which you are interested in attending to discuss your options and to assess your situation.

Contact your state/province educational department of education for assistance too.

We high lite many high profile bursaries which you have to apply directly to the sponsor of the bursary for. Many private companies have bursaries but don’t advertise about and you must ask them directly on how to apply for them. You can actually do this by emailing them or calling them on the phone – or even visiting their websites. Local libraries also have list which may be updated on a regular basis so visit them too.

All places that sponsor bursaries have to be contacted directly to apply either by their website online applications or mailing in a printed out online application to them. Some you must go directly into their business operations to apply.

Also go to The Davis Scholarship Program.
